Darkspin music are proud to announce we are now managing The Slacksons from Bristol. Their music is a cool mix of Brit Pop, Hip hop, Jazz, Funk, Ska, and Electronica, sitting beside a rich history of innovative UK bands. They are a great live band, and several gigs down the line, including a gig at the iconic Troubadour in London, at the end of 2019. The Slacksons music, and their energetic live performances, have been received with a great deal of excitement, and have generated lots of interest in the band, with an ever growing fan-base, and many new festival bookings, plus an invitation from TV and radio presenter Laura Whitmore to play live and be interviewed on her BBC radio show (23rd Feb 2020)

January 2017

So another busy year has passed. A year of laying foundations for some very exciting projects.
Our track ‘Paradise’ ft Natalie Grace, and remixed by Michael E, was chosen to be featured on the Ibiza Night and Day album by Rob Roar (released July 2016)
Darkspin have also been busy writing with and producing lots of established and brand new artists, and promoting new music with some very exciting collaborations to be revealed very soon. We have been running live music events in London, and have been commissioned to compose a piece of music for a British psychological horror movie, to be released late in 2017.
We also have a very special album project with some amazing ‘Bristol based musicians’ and we will be working hard throughout the early months of the year to write and produce an album ready for the end of the year, so ….much more to come

February 2016
It must seem quiet on the Darkspin front, but we have been working away on new material, and spending days in the studio, and talking to publishers about some of our tracks being used on a very cool project.. More news soon on that

WE are delighted to announce the unanimous winner of the Open Water remixers Competition, in association with wavo.me is Romes own EMIKIS (aka Emiliano Chioffi from Rome Italy who is a 24 year old law student who has been producing music since he was 14 years old. Our congratulations to him!

Darkspin are very proud to have been part of the HMV Football Extravaganza event, held at the London Hilton on Park Lane, and now in its 19th year. The annual event has raised over £6 million for the Nordoff Robbins music therapy charity, and honours 1 great person in football each year with its ‘Legend of football’ award and this years recipient of’ the award was Mr Ryan Giggs who said. “It’s an honour and privilege to be presented with the Legend of Football Award, particularly when I look back at the list of previous winners,”. He follows last year’s recipient, Pele in receiving the accolade.The Stereophonics played an amazing set, and the evening was a great success

Our great new track Open water, featuring Alex Grace is to be featured on Huub Designs new promotional video Huub, a British company who make amazing technical wetsuits, and sponsor some of the best athletes in the world, including Alistair Brownlee (Gold) and Jonny Brownlee (Bronze) in the London Olympic triathlon. They also sponsor Helen Jenkins, the current World triathlon champion. We are proud to be associated with such a great brand, and hope we will work with them again

Listening to our Re-mixes for  ‘Open water’. I am on a scorching hot, breezy beach somewhere in Morocco, laying on a bamboo mat, looking up through the palm fronds to the sun burning through, casting shadows across my skin. I look along the white sands to a pure white village perched on a cliff above a gently rolling ocean. Saturday 10th MayOur video by Ryan Watson at RTW films and our new track, to be released on June 1st, ‘Open Water’  featuring Alex Grace had its premier at the event to great applause. It was screened as the trailer to the main feature, Space Jam, the 1996 Looney Tunes classic film. There was a REEL basketball match from Newcastles basketball team in the interval. DJ sets, and give aways and competitions with cool prizes donated by the sponsors To keep e-numbers up, Pop-corn and sweeties were force fed to everyone who attended, washed down by RedBull to give em all wings.

Shooting our first Darkspin video promo yesterday in London for our new track Open Water, with Ryan T Watson on camera. 6.45am call time at Trafalgar square, where we began to shoot. Next on to film at the iconic Battersea power station which has fought and won a campaign to remain after years and years of developers trying to pull it down altogether and build luxury apartments. Its fascia is now listed and has heritage status, and this is a real victory for those of us who campaigned for it to be protected for the future http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battersea_Power_Station

South Bank skate park, which is sadly due to suffer the same disappearing act if we don’t all fight for it, was our next great location Thanks to all the great skaters we met and talked to yesterday. Darkspin feel strongly about saving this amazing space. Not only is it full of great street art, but for some of these kids, who are growing up in such overcrowded streets with hardly any open space or amenities, this is the ONLY place on earth they love, and they come here every day to skate, beacause it’s what they love doing and it’s where they can hang out with their skaters mates. Boris Johnson should get himself down here and talk to these kids. We had such an amazing team around us for this shoot and I want to thank everyone for all their hard work on the day. We will always remember the beautiful sunny day we all spent together making this video in our great city! Grace McCabe thank you for endlessly spinning your hoop,without a complaint, and never without a lovely smile. For Ryan for all his creativity, vision and hard work, and to Mac for being the keeper of the Darkspin purse, security guard, bag carrier and tireless trainee hooper, and for also leading us to a well deserved cocktail bar at the end of the day!

2014 The radio version is ready and just came back from our mastering partner Fluid Mastering in London! A big thank you to Tim Debney at Fluid Mastering for taking care and pampering our first brand new baby!

Hit and run shopping today, for our video next week. Burned the card out before I got to the main shop for the video,then about to phone my smug bank manager to lecture him about whos money exactly was in the account,and my phone also died, so… thinking I was scuppered and would have to come back another day, and looking for any shrapnel in my purse for a pick me up coffee, I literally bumped into a friend, who kindly offered to pay for Darkspin records booty for the day !! Kismet at work again!

Talked to Ryan our camera man again today, about the content and style of the film. Talked colour grading, editing and effects, and got chatting about film style. We all like Sufjan Stevens, who is an amazing musician and film maker. Its a reference point at least and we have set a date to meet up.

Locations, props and costumes to be sorted. We like the cool Mizzy swimsuit in Agent provocateur….. send e mail to Agent provocateurs PR, asking for them to kindly provide it for our shoot. Waiting on response………   19th March We have been looking at the work of a young film maker and photographer Ryan Watson for some time, so today I ran the idea of the film past him and he is keen to do it. Shoot date 15th April booked, I think it is starting to come together

18th March

We happen to know a beautiful hoola hooping girl, so the beautiful Grace McCabe pops in to see us today, and she is perfect and wants to be our video star!

16th March

Back to the drawing board I really love the idea of the hoola hooping girl, and we keep coming back to it, so we finally fix on that, and start to develop the story around it, in a simple way.

15th March

We are working on the storyboard for a video for our first great release which was co- written by Peter Juster and Laura Mckay and will be released this summer. We are so enthused by this great track and our energy is hard contain We come up with a great story, but a great ‘big’ story too. Our budget is only small for now, so we decide that although we have come up with a truly oscar-worthy film, maybe we should do a smaller production for our first video, still beautiful and cool, but not involving a cast of thousands and Ridley Scott directing it! That will come later.

Studio producing time! Getting deep and dark with this baseline on the amazing re-mix for Open water. We love the beautiful keyboard, and we LOVE the feel of the base going through our chests, and we haven’t even hit the volume yet !!!!
